What is Campography?

Campography is the first social network dedicated to summer camps and the people that love them. It allows Campers, Staff, Alumni, Parents and Camp Directors to connect and communicate in a fun and safe environment.

The key feature of Campography is the ability to go back in time at your camps and rebuild your camp history and manage your camp experience on an ongoing basis. For every camp you went to you can go back to previous years and add them to your history. At the same time you can add your friends who spent the summer with you, post memories, photos and much more.

We believe that camp websites should be more than just a list of camps in a directory. Our goal is to change the way people interact with their camp friends and colleagues.

History

The origins of Campography date to 2007, when Toronto web developer Stuart Starr was reminiscing with some old camp friends about all the good times they had during their teenage years at Camp Timberlane in Northern Ontario. While he had kept in touch with some of them, some of them were just a faint memory, and the memories were getting cloudier as time went on.

Stuart decided to put his skills to work, developing an application allowing Facebook users to create a personal biography of camps attended and reconnect with old friends. When Stuart added photo tagging, allowing users to attach friends and individual camps to their Facebook photos, he began hearing from camp directors and administrators asking for additional features. Stuart added functionality for camp directors to manage their individual camp communities in late 2007.

Hearing more and more requests from the camp community, Stuart decided to hire some help and build a more fully featured web application in mid 2008. We're in the early stages of testing this application now, and we're happy you're here!

We continue to aspire to Stuart's original goal: Be the best place on the Internet to connect with your camp and your camp's community.

So sign up, fill in your own "Campography" and join the fun!
