Joining

How do I setup an account?

Setting up the account is incredibly easy! Go to our Registration Page, enter your email address and a private password, select the time zone you’re in and verify the security code (so we know you’re real).

You will now be prompted to fill out your personal profile as well as other profile information. Once completed, you will be sent an email requesting that you confirm your email address. Once confirmed you can log in and find your old summer camp friends!

I'm not 13, how can I join the site?

As per the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, we require all users to be over the age of 13. If under the age of 13, we require parental consent written in clear and understandable language and not contain any unrelated or confusing information. The notice can be sent via email or by regular mail to;

What should I do first?

After completing your profile, the first thing you should do is find the camps you attended in the past or are going to attend this summer. Just click Join This Camp on the camps page.

Is my information kept private?

Absolutely. We will not share any personal identifying information about you to any third party.

Account issues

I can't login, or I forgot my username or password.

If you can’t login, check to make sure that your "caps lock" key is off. Your username and password are CaSe SeNsItIvE. If you still cannot login, you can request to reset your password or contact us.

How can I delete my account?

If you are absolutely sure that you want to delete your account, you can do so here. Please note that your account will be permanently deleted and irrecoverable!

How can I update my email address?

Locate the link in the top right of the page that says Settings, from there you can update your email address.

How do I change my password?

Many internet security people recommend changing your password every 72 days. We don’t require this, but you’re more than welcome to do so. Click on the Settings link at the top right of the page. Now click on Change Password, you’ll now enter your old password as well as your new password two (2) times to confirm it. Your password will now be updated, just make sure to remember it for the next time you log in!

My account is banned, why?

Likely because you’ve violated our Terms of Service. Please review those terms and if you would like to appeal the decision, Contact us.

Camps

Okay I found my camp, how do I start doing fun stuff?

Well the fun has already begun! But now that you’ve found a camp, you’ve opened up more opportunities. You can now find old camp friends, talk to them, post on the camp page all about your good times and memories, look at jobs and what’s new at the camp.

To fill in more information, add your current relationship with the camp. For example, if you went to this camp several years ago, you are "Alumni". If you’re attending this camp for the upcoming summer as a counsellor, choose "Staff".
Next, begin filling in your individual camp history. Click on the year selector and visit the individual years you attended this camp. Click the Add this Year button and describe your role in that particular year (Camper, Staff, etc...). You’ll then be added to this year at the camp.

You can also add and send photos, view other friends that went to camp with you that summer, create groups and tag other user’s photos from your camps and years.

I can't find my camp, what do I do?

If you can’t find your camp when you do a search, a link will be present that says Add Camp, you’ll be able to add the camp that’s missing. Try searching for your camp a few times before you add one, just so there’s no duplicates. Duplicates can confuse other members and it makes our tech guys grumpy.

None of my friends from camp are here, how can I add them?

At the top of the page you’ll see Invite, click it and enter your friends email addresses. Get the Campography word out and let’s fill in the blanks! They’ll tell two friends, and those friends will tell two friends and that’s, like, 10 people right there!

I made a mistake entering information about my camp, what do I do?

No problem, we all make mistakes. Just send us a message and let us know what to fix.

There's a job at a camp I want to apply for, how do I do it?

In the posting it will normally list a contact number of email address, however if it does not, find the camp director that posted the job and contact them directly or post on the camps comment section. Good luck!

The director of my camp made me a network officer, what does that mean?

This means that the director has entrusted you with helping to maintain the network. You’ll have additional privileges then normal members such as being able to edit the camps description, moderate and remove comments and also be able to remove members who don’t belong. This responsibility should be used to better the network, improve the camp page and bring more people to the community.

The director of my camp gave me a title, what does that mean?

A title is just a way to distinguish certain users. So if you’re a camp staff member, the director may give you that title so others in your network will know you’re a staff. The director has full control over whom and what title they give people. Some of the time a director may give a staff member a title along with a promotion to a network officer.

Profiles

How do I edit my profile?

Just click the Edit button located at the top of the page beside your name. You’ll be able to edit everything relating to your profile from the submenu you’ll see now.

How do I view my profile?

Just click your name at the top right of the page.

How do I upload a picture on my profile?

If you didn’t upload a picture when you first signed up, you can do so (or change your image) at anytime by clicking the Edit button located at the top of the page beside your name. Once there, just click the Photo tab and you can upload a picture straight from your computer.

How can I make my profile private?

To make your profile private, or limit who can view your profile click on the Edit link located at the top right of page beside your name. Now on the menu page that comes up, look to the very right and click Profile Settings. You’ll see several options in regards to your profile. Select whichever one you think fits your privacy desires best and then click Save Changes.

How do I link my Facebook to my Campography account?

Throughout the site you will notice the “Are you on Facebook? Link Your Account” button. Just click it, and log into Facebook™ and you’ll be all linked up!

What happens when I link my accounts?

When you link your account to Facebook™, you’ll be able to import your friends and invite them directly to the Campography site. You’ll also be able to log into Campography from either the Campography website, or from Facebook™. Ultimately it’s going to make your Campography experience that much more exciting and fun!

How do I upload a photo album?

On the main menu, click on the Photos tab. Now you’ll see on the right side of the page a button that says Create New Album. Click it and you’ll be asked for the details about your album. Now a request may come up to approve the photo uploader, click yes or run and you can import any picture from your computer to your new album.

Why can't I upload a picture/movie?

There may be three reasons for this.

  • The file is not in one of our acceptable formats. These formats include both picture and video files and must have an ending extension of .jpg, .gif, .jpeg, .png, .mp3, .avi, .mpa, .mov, .qt or .swf.
  • Your file is over our size limitations. If your file exceeds 3000KB or 3MB your file will not upload.
  • If you’ve uploaded 100MB already then you’ve reached your limit on uploads. 100MB is approximately 250 photos. To free space, remove some unnecessary photos.

If your file doesn’t conflict with any of the above reasons please contact us.

What is 'What are you remembering'?

This is where you can post your current feelings, thoughts, situation or you can post a summer camp memory.

Someone posted a comment I want to delete, how do I remove it?

Easily done, all you’ll need to do is click the Edit button located at the top of the page beside your name. Once there, click on the Comments sections. Here you’ll find listed all the comments made on your profile, just find the one you wish to delete and click Delete.

I want to get emails when someone leaves me a comment, what do I do?

By default you will receive emails when commented. However, if you’ve previously turned notification off all you need to do is click on the Edit link located at the top right of the page beside your name. Click on the Profile Settings tab and then scroll down to the area that says Profile Notification. In this section check off the box that you’ll see and click Save Changes. You will get email notifications when a comment is left on your profile.

I keep getting emails when someone leaves me a comment, can I turn that off?

At the top right of the page beside your name click on Edit, you`ll be directed to the page to make all edits on your account. Click on the tab that says Profile Settings. Now scroll to the bottom and located the Profile Notification section, uncheck the box you’ll see in that section and then click Save Changes. You’ll no longer receive emails when a comment is left.

I want to get an email when someone leaves a comment on one of my pictures, how can I set that?

Automatically the default will be to send you a message, so if you haven’t turned it off previously, no need to worry its active.

If you previously disengaged it, click on Edit located beside your name in the top right of your screen. Now click on the Profile Settings tab and scroll to the bottom of the page. You’ll see Profile Notification, just click the box that says Yes, notify me when someone writes a comment on my profile and you’ll receive email notifications.

All you need to do is click on Edit located beside your name in the top right of your screen. Now click on the Profile Settings tab and scroll to the bottom of the page. You’ll see Profile Notification, just unclick the box that says Yes, notify me when someone writes a comment on my profile and you’ll no longer receive email notifications.

How can I add a friend?

Just locate them in the group or camp, view their profile and click Add to my Friends.

How do I message people?

Simply find your friend in the camp network or on your friends list and click Send Message.

What is the Community Hub?

The community hub is the main page of Campography. This is where you’ll see all sorts of camp related information from the community as a whole. Listed will be the camps you're part of, popular camps on Campography, popular searches, featured camps and much more!

What is the Personal Dashboard?

The personal dashboard will be your overview page. Your dashboard will list all your camps, photos from your camps, news about your camp and job listings at the camps you've attended. You'll also be able to update your current memories, see how many people have viewed your profile and also get new postings on your Vine. It's like an aerial view of all things Campography.

How can I report an error or other problem with the site?

In the top right locate the link that says Report a Bug, click it and you’ll be brought to a form where you can report problems.

How can I report spam or other inappropriate content?

When will I be able to link my account to MySpace™, hi5™, Bebo™, Orkut™ and Friendster™?

We are aiming to have Campography be linkable to MySpace™, hi5™, Bebo™, Orkut™ and Friendster™ within the year. Stay tuned for an even more exciting Campography network as more and more people from all over the internet join up!
